Add a New Plot Button

Click the button to display the New plot(s) dialog box, which contains options to define a new plot for the graph.

Once you have specified what type of plot to add, the appropriate number of columns will be created in the Graph Data Editor, and you can enter the values to use in the plot.

Type

Use the Type box to select a graph type to use for the new plot. Note that the plot types available in this list are dependent on the types of plots, which already exist in the graph. For example, if you have created a 3D surface plot, you can only add additional 3D surface plots, but if you have added a 2D scatterplot, you can choose from a variety of two-dimensional plot types, including scatterplots, histograms, and bar plots.

Name

Enter a name for the new plot in the Name box. STATISTICA assigns the name to the plot number. This option is useful if you have several plots on one graph. Note that if you enter a name here and create more than one plot (by entering 2 or more in the No. of plots box), STATISTICA will use this name for each of the new plots and number them consecutively. For example, if you create three plots named A Scatterplot, the actual names will be A Scatterplot (1), A Scatterplot (2), and A Scatterplot (3). You can also assign names to plots using the Name box on the Plot: General tab of the Graph Options dialog box.

No. of plots

Enter the number of plots to add in the No. of plots box.

No. of points.

Enter the number of points (cases) to add for each plot in the No. of points box.

Connect to current plot's settings

Select the Connect to current plot's settings check box if you want to use the same scale values and labeling options as the current plot.

No. of variables

Enter the number of variables to use in the No. of variables box.

Weight

Select the Weight check box if you want to include a weight variable for the newly created plot.
