Descriptive Statistics Overview
Descriptive statistics are calculated separately for each variable, and they provide basic information as the mean, minimum and maximum values, different measures of variation, as well as data about the shape of the distribution of the variable. Those statistics are reviewed in this overview. For more information, see Descriptive Statistics for a complete list of tabs and options. For the descriptive statistics procedure, you can select all variables in the current data set and a sequential table of descriptives for the consecutive variables is generated with one row per variable. The measures of variation include the standard deviation, and the standard error. Numerous tests that verify if the distribution of variables follows the normal distribution are also provided. Refer to the Descriptive Statistics dialog for a complete description of all options.
