Descriptive Statistics - Quick Tab

The Quick tab of the Descriptive Statistics dialog box contains the options described here.

Element Name Description
Variables Click the Variables button to display the standard variable selection dialog box, in which you select the variables for the statistics computed.
Compute percentile boundaries Use the options in the Compute percentile boundaries group box to enter the specific percentile values to be computed and displayed in the analysis results; by default STATISTICA will compute the quartile values, that is, the 25th and 75th percentiles.
Summary: Ordinal descriptive statistics Click the Summary: Ordinal descriptive statistics button to display the ordinal descriptive statistics for the variable and percentile boundaries entered in the Compute percentile boundaries group box. STATISTICA will compute the following ordinal descriptive statistics: median, percentiles, quartiles, range, quartile range, mean, harmonic mean, geometric mean, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, variance, average deviation, and sum. See Nonparametric Statistic notes - ordinal descriptive statistics for detailed descriptions of these nonparametric tests.
Box & whisker plot for all variables Click the Box & whisker plot for all variables button to display the Box-Whisker Type dialog box. Select a box-whisker type and click the OK button to display a box and whisker plot. The box and whisker plot is a useful graphical method to compare the distribution of two or more variables. Both medians and quartiles, or means and related measures of dispersion can be plotted.
