Workspace Node: Import Excel - Specifications Tab

The Import Excel workspace node can be accessed from the Feature Finder, ribbon bar, or Node Browser. Double-click the node to display the specifications dialog box.

Element Name Description
Input Use these options to select a Microsoft Excel file and specific worksheet to import.
File Click the File button to display the Open dialog box, where you can browse to and select an Excel file.
Worksheets In this drop-down list, select the worksheet to import.
Range In this group box, select the specific rows and columns you want to import.
Columns: From/To The From and To boxes associated with the Columns govern the range of columns imported from the worksheet. By default, all the columns of the worksheet will be imported, but you can change the specifications in these boxes. The From box governs the first column to be imported from the worksheet. The To box governs the last column to be imported from the worksheet.
Rows: From/To The From and To boxes associated with the Rows govern the range of rows imported from the worksheet. By default, all the rows of the worksheet will be imported, but you can change the specifications in these boxes. The From box governs the first row to be imported from the worksheet. The To box governs the last row to be imported from the worksheet.
Variable Properties In this group box, select a variable from the drop down list, and specify whether it should be Text or Numeric.
Options
Get variable names from the first row Select this check box to import the first row of the worksheet as the variable names rather than the first column.
Get case names from the first column Select this check box to import the first column of the worksheets as the case names rather than the first row.
Don't create numeric variable text labels Excel spreadsheet data can contain numbers and text. When this check box is selected, it causes missing data to be placed in the cell in place of a text label/value pair. If the target variable is text, this option has no effect.

OK Click the OK button to accept all the specifications made in the dialog box and to close it.
