Verify Data

You can access the Verify Data dialog box in the following ways:
  • Ribbon bar. Select the Data tab. In the Manage group, click Verify and select Verify Data from the drop-down menu to display the Verify Data dialog box.
  • Classic menus. Select Verify Data from the Data - Verify Data submenu to display the Verify Data dialog box.
Use these options to verify the accuracy and completeness of the data in the spreadsheet.
Option Description
A case will be considered valid if Use the options in this group box to define when a case will be considered valid.
All conditions are met When you select the All conditions are met option button, a case will be considered correct only if all of the conditions defined in the dialog are met.
At least one condition is met When you select the At least one condition is met option button, a case will be considered correct if at least one of the conditions defined in the dialog is met.
Condition Use the Condition group boxes to define a verification condition. You can create up to 16 of these conditions.
Valid/Invalid cases When you choose Valid cases from this drop-down list, the case number (or range of case numbers) that you type into the blank Condition box will be considered valid. When you choose Invalid cases, the case number (or range of case numbers) will be considered invalid.
Valid/Invalid If Use this drop-down list box to determine whether the value will be considered valid or invalid if the verification condition is met. In the box immediately below this drop-down list box, enter the verification condition or case number(s). Find First Click this button to select the first invalid case in the data file.
Mark All Invalid Click this button to mark all of the invalid cases in the data file according to the Marked Cells spreadsheet layout. See Spreadsheet Layouts - Overview for further details.
As Excluded Select this check box to add the Excluded case state symbol to the cases that do not meet the specified conditions.
Cancel Click this button to close the Verify Data dialog box. Any conditions set will be disregarded.
Clear all Click this button to clear all the Condition fields.
Open Click the Open button to display the Open Conditions dialog box, which is used to select a file with multiple case selection conditions and open them for use as verification selections.
Save As Click the Save As button to display the Save Conditions dialog box, which is used to specify a file in which to save the current verification conditions.
Range Use the options in the Range group box to define the range of values to be verified.
From case Enter the number of the first case to be verified in the From case box or adjust the number using the accompanying microscrolls.
To case Enter the number of the last case to be verified in the To case box or adjust the number using the accompanying microscrolls.
