Crosstabulation Tables Results - Options Tab

Crosstabulation and Stub-and-Banner Tables

Select the Options tab of the Crosstabulation Tables Results dialog box to access the options described here. These options affect the display of the various spreadsheets available on the Quick and Advanced tabs.

Compute tables
The selection of options in this group box determines the detail of results reported in Summary tables and Detailed two-way tables.

Highlight counts > Select the Highlight counts > check box to highlight all counts (raw frequencies) in the table that are greater than the value entered in the corresponding edit field.

Expected frequencies. Select the Expected frequencies check box to compute the expected cell frequencies contingent upon complete independence of all factors in the table for all Summary tables and Detailed two-way tables. Thus, for Detailed two-way tables, those expected frequencies are computed based on the marginal frequencies for the two factors in the current table; for Summary tables with more than two variables (factors), the expected frequencies are based on the marginal frequencies of all factors in the table (i.e., no interactions between factors are assumed). Expected frequencies for tables with more than two factors are computed via Iterative proportional fitting (e.g., see Haberman, 1972, 1974; see also the Log-Linear Analysis module).

Residual frequencies. Select the Residual frequencies check box to display the residual frequencies (observed minus expected frequencies; see above) for all Summary tables and Detailed two-way tables.

Percentages of total count. Select the Percentages of total count check box to compute percentages relative to the total number of cases in the current table for each cell in the Summary tables, Detailed two-way tables, and Stub-and-banner tables. If the Display selected %'s in sep. tables check box is not selected (see Advanced tab), the percentages will be shown in the same table together with the raw frequencies.

Percentages of row counts. Select the Percentages of row counts check box to compute percentages relative to the total number of cases in the respective row of the current table for each cell in the Summary tables, Detailed two-way tables, and Stub-and-banner tables. If the Display selected %'s in sep. tables option is not selected (see Advanced tab), the percentages will be shown in the same table together with the raw frequencies.

Percentages of column counts. Select the Percentages of column counts check box to compute percentages relative to the total number of cases in the respective column of the current table for each cell in the Summary tables, Detailed two-way tables, and Stub-and-banner tables. If the Display selected %'s in sep. tables option is not selected (see Advanced tab), the percentages will be shown in the same table together with the raw frequencies.

Statistics for two-way tables
The options selected in this group box determine the statistics that will be computed when Detailed two-way tables are specified. If any of these statistics are selected, a separate spreadsheet will be displayed after each two-way table, reporting the respective statistics for that table. A comprehensive discussion of these statistics is available in the overview section, see Statistics in Crosstabulations. For information on a specific statistic, click on the link below.
Pearson Chi-Square and Maximum-Likelihood (M-L) Chi-Square Spearman R (rank order correlation)
Fisher Exact Test, Yates Correction, McNemar Chi-Square Somers' D
Coefficient Phi (2x2 tables) and Cramer's V and C Uncertainty Coefficients
