You can use the options in this group box to specify logging options for newly-created spreadsheets.

You can select this check box for Statistica to maintain a log of all changes made to the spreadsheet.

| Require user comments for changes
|
You can select this check box for Statistica to prompt you to enter a reason for making the spreadsheet changes.
Note: These options do not apply to all newly created Statistica Spreadsheets; they do apply to spreadsheets created using
File - New,
File or
Data - Get External Data,
Data - Merge, and
Data - Sort. They also apply to spreadsheets created by analysis modules, Statistica Enterprise, and imported files.

| Display warning about the status of the Spreadsheet-level Case Selection Conditions
|
You can select this check box to display a warning message when you change the status of the Spreadsheet Case Selection Conditions. Any macro that is run on the spreadsheet use the spreadsheet case selection conditions; however, if you record a macro (using the
Options button menu available in analysis/graph specification dialog boxes) while analyzing this spreadsheet, the spreadsheet case selection conditions are not recorded as part of the macro. To set selection conditions that are recorded into a macro, you must specify them using the
Analysis/Graph Case Selection Conditions dialog box (accessible by the
Select Cases button available in analysis/graph specification dialog boxes).

| Display warning about the status of the Spreadsheet-level Case Weights
|
You can select this check box to display a warning message when you change the status of the Spreadsheet Case Weights. Any macro that is run on the spreadsheet uses the spreadsheet case weights; however, if you record a macro (using the
Options button available in analysis/graph specification dialog boxes) while analyzing this spreadsheet, the spreadsheet case weights are not recorded as part of the macro. To set weights that are recorded into a macro, you must specify them using the
Analysis/Graph Case Weights dialog box (accessible using the Weights button available in analysis/graph specification dialog boxes).

| Sort performance warning for Spreadsheets with special formatting
|
The options in this group box pertain to the sorting of very large data files with heterogeneous cell formatting within data columns. The sorting operations in Statistica are highly optimized and extremely efficient. However, when individual cells in a column of the spreadsheets contain formatting that is different from other cells in the same column (heterogeneous within-column formats), the sorting can be made more efficient if the cell formatting is removed so that all cells in each column have identical (homogeneous) formatting. In other words, the sorting of large data files is faster if the display formats for numbers are identical (homogeneous) within each column (example, one column could contain numbers displayed as currency, another as dates); however, if the column formatting is heterogeneous (example, one column has 10 cells displayed as currency, and 10 cells displayed as percent), the sorting is slower.

| Display warning
|
Displays a warning when a large data file with heterogeneous formatting within columns is encountered during a sort operation. The warning enable you to select one of the two following options described.

| Include cell formatting
|
Includes the cell formatting in the sorting operation so that cells displayed in a particular format within each column (different from the formatting of other cells in the same column) retains their format (example, if some cells within a column are formatted as currency, then those cells retain their currency formatting after the sort is completed). When sorting very large data files, selecting this option might slow down the sort operations to some degree.

| Remove cell formatting
|
You can select this option button to remove all heterogeneous cell formatting from the cells; this might speed up the sort operation for very large data files.

| Export HTML performance warning
|
When saving a spreadsheet that contains more than 10,000 cells as a static HTML, the spreadsheet is truncated at the 10,000th cell. In the HTML, a message indicates the genuine size of the spreadsheet and explains that the display was truncated to the specific number of rows/columns. This logic also applies to spreadsheets in workbooks that are saved as HTML. By default, this check box is selected.

| Number of cells exported when saving to HTML
|
The default for this option is set at 10,000. When saving a spreadsheet that contains more than 10,000 cells as a static HTML, the spreadsheet is truncated at the 10,000th cell. Use this option to adjust the number of cells after which the spreadsheet is truncated.

| Export as RTF tables
|
This check box is selected by default to ensure that exporting to RTF is completed quickly.
|
| RTF table width
|
The measurement in this box controls how columns are wrapped in the resulting table.

| Display context sensitive (pop-up) Function Guide in formula editors
|
Select this check box to automatically display the function guide in those places in the program where you enter arithmetic expressions or transformation formulas. For example, when you are entering a formula into the
Long name box of the
Variable dialog box (that is, when you begin the text in the
Long name box with an equal sign to signify that you are entering a formula), every time you type a letter to begin a new word (that is. type a letter after the equal sign or after a space), the list of available Statistica functions that start with that letter are displayed.
You can then select from that list (by double-clicking on the function name) the desired function, symbol, to insert it into the
Long name box.

| Processing efficiency warning when a file (with many variables not used in analysis) exceeds: _ megabytes
|
Specify a Statistica Spreadsheet file size threshold (in megabytes) in order to display the
Large file processing speed warning when a Statistica data spreadsheet (.sta file) for an analysis exceeds this file size and also contains a large number of variables.
Note: Processing large data files (scalability of analyses). Statistica is optimized in various ways to ensure efficient processing of extremely large data sets. In most instances, large data sets are extracted from external (remote) databases, in which case you can use the Streaming Database Connector options to speed up the analyses, which can then be performed without creating a copy of the data on your local computer. The default Statistica data files (spreadsheets) are optimized to permit the most efficient and flexible editing using the large number of options available for data spreadsheets; they also support various advanced features such as embedded objects (in cells of the spreadsheet), user-programmable events.
Note: Processing of even very large data files (example, with millions of cases) is very efficient using the regular (.sta) data files as long the data file does not contain many more variables than those used in the analysis.

| Display the default style dialog for the selected variable(s) and/or case(s)
|
When this check box is selected, the
Default Style dialog box is displayed when you change the format of an entire row (case) or column (variable) in a Statistica Spreadsheet. Clear the check box to not show the dialog box.
