Variance Components and Mixed Model ANOVA Startup Panel - Model Tab

Select the Model tab of the Variance Components and Mixed Model ANOVA Startup Panel to access options to specify the model for the analysis.

Model
The options under Model are used to specify the model to use for fitting responses on the dependent variable(s) and to specify the order, or degree, of interactions of the factors to include in the model.
Factorial design to degree
Select the Factorial design to degree option button to specify that STATISTICA will perform the analysis using a factorial design based on combinations of the levels of the factors in the analysis. If you choose this option button, STATISTICA will set the value in the corresponding field to the number of factors in the analysis, indicating that a full factorial design will be constructed. To limit the degree, or order, of interaction effects to be included in the analysis, specify the value in the corresponding field to the highest desired order of interactions. For example, to include only the 2-way interaction effects in the analysis, enter a 2. Note that entering a value of 1 specifies a main effect model, which includes only the 1-way interactions.
Fixed by random interactions are fixed effects
Select the Fixed by random interactions are fixed effects check box to specify that interactions between the fixed factors and the random factors are treated as fixed effects. When this check box is not selected, interactions between the two types of factors are treated as random effects. The default is to treat such interactions as random effects. Note that interactions between fixed factors are always treated as fixed effects, and that interactions between random factors are always treated as random effects.
Hierarchically nested design
Select the Hierarchically nested design option button to specify that STATISTICA will perform the analysis using hierarchically nested effects. The order in which factors are selected determines the order of nesting of effects. For example, if three factors A, B, and C were selected in that order, the model for the analysis would include effects for C nested within B, B nested within A, and the A main effect.

Interpretation of codes. Use the Interpretation of codes group box to specify how to interpret the codes for the nested effects. When the Codes identify consecutive overall levels option button is selected, STATISTICA expects unique codes for each level of the nested effects. When the Codes identify levels within other factors option button is selected, STATISTICA expects the codes to reflect the levels nested within the other factors.
