CHAID Button
Click the button to display the General CHAID Models Startup Panel. The CHAID (Chi-square Automatic Interaction Detection) method is an alternative to the General Trees options for classifying (dividing) cases based on a set of categorical or continuous predictor variables. CHAID uses a different algorithm (from General Trees) to determine a final hierarchical classification tree where each split (node) can produce multiple branches (unlike General Trees, where all splits are binary). The CHAID analysis can be performed for both continuous and categorical dependent (criterion) variables. In addition to the traditional CHAID analysis, you can combine categorical and continuous predictor variables into ANOVA/ANCOVA-like designs and perform the analysis using a design matrix for the predictors. You can also request exhaustive searches for the best solution (Exhaustive CHAID).
