Design of a Latin Square Experiment - Display Design Tab

Latin Square Overview

Select the Display design tab in the Design of a Latin Square Experiment dialog box to access options to review, print, and save the design that you have generated. Options are available to adjust the design that are not available from the Quick tab.

Summary: Display design. Click the Summary: Display design button to display a spreadsheet specifying the settings for each experimental run. Settings on this tab affect the display of the design. To save the displayed design, use Save or Save As from the File menu.

Denote factors (by numbers or letters)
Use the options in the Denote factors group box to specify whether factors will be denoted By numbers or By letters (the preferred method of enumerating factors in some textbooks). The setting of these option buttons also affects the enumeration of factors in other spreadsheets available from this results dialog.
Order of runs
Use the options in the Order of runs group box to (1) randomize the order of runs, or (2) display the design in standard order. Remember that for standard experiments, it is common practice to randomize the runs in order to avoid any biases due to fluctuations in the production process across runs.
Seed
The positive integer value in the Seed field is used to seed the random number generator. Note that the random number generator is re-seeded every time you enter this dialog. Thus, when you generate the same designs more than once, the default random seed in this field is different every time. If you want to generate the identical order in consecutive analyses, enter into this field the same number as that shown in the initial analysis. In practice, since randomization is supposed to accomplish unbiased assignment of runs to experimental conditions, you usually do not want to change this value.
