Sampling Plans
Sampling plans for normal data (continuous) data, binomial proportions, and Poisson frequencies. Constructs simple and sequential sampling plans for user-defined alpha and beta error rates. See also the Power Analysis facilities for tools to determine sample sizes, estimate power, etc. for various statistical procedures.
General
Element Name | Description |
---|---|
Type of quality characteristic | Select the type of variable (distribution) for which to construct the sampling plan. Note that STATISTICA will apply normal distribution approximations for all types of variables. See also the Power Analysis facilities for tools to determine sample sizes, estimate power, etc. for various statistical procedures. |
Tests criterion | Specifies the test criterion, i.e., whether to detect significant differences from a standard value, regardless of direction (two-tailed test), or whether to detect significant differences in only one direction (value greater than standard, less than standard; one-sided tests). |
Alpha error | Specifies Alpha error probability of erroneously rejecting H0 when it is correct. Put another way, this value is the probability of rejecting a batch, when in fact there is nothing wrong with it. |
Beta error | Specifies Beta probability of erroneously rejecting H1 when it is correct. Put another way, this value is the probability of accepting a batch, when in fact it deviates from specifications by the magnitude defined under H1. |
Hypothesized value for H0 | Specifies here the value (mean, proportion, count) for H0 (null hypothesis). Note that the H1 (alternative hypothesis) value must be greater than H0 if a right-sided test is requested (see also the Test criterion), and H1 must be smaller than H0 if a left-sided test is requested. If a two-sided test criterion is requested, then STATISTICA assumes two equal intervals around the H0 value. |
Hypothesized value for H1 | Specifies the value for H1. Note that the H1 value (mean, proportion, count) must be greater than H0 if a right-sided test is requested (see also the Test criterion), and H1 must be smaller than H0 if a left-sided test is requested. If a two-sided test criterion is requested, then STATISTICA assumes two equal intervals around the H0 mean. |
Assumed sigma | Only applicable for normal means; specify the assumed standard deviation of the variable of interest. |
Sequential sampling
Element Name | Description |
---|---|
Sequential sampling plan | Creates equivalent sequential sampling plan, optionally (if defined) for the first continuous dependent variable in the list of dependent variables (for normal means, or for Poisson frequencies), or (if defined) for the first categorical dependent variable in the list of categorical dependent variables. |
For sample sizes 1 to | Creates and reports sequential sampling plan for sample sizes 1 to k, with k as specified in this edit field. |
