How Variable Lists (from the Input Descriptor) are Interpreted in the Analytic Nodes

The links below are to topics that summarize how different types of variable lists are processed in different statistics and graphics nodes. For example, when you select the node for computing descriptive statistics, appropriate summary statistics will be computed for all continuous and categorical dependent and predictor variables selected in the input data source (Input Descriptor).

Note: some specialized modules will also allow you, or may even require you, to select additional variables and codes. For example, most nodes for analyzing censored data sets with survival (failure time) analysis methods require that you select a (categorical) censoring indicator variable with codes that identify whether each observation is censored or complete. Refer also to the documentation for the respective analytic procedures to learn about the specific variable selections that may be possible or required for each individual module.
