Copying Variables

Unlike the Clipboard operations of copying and pasting the contents of a highlighted range or block of values in the spreadsheet, this option copies both the contents of the columns and the columns themselves (regardless of whether or not all cases or only a subset of cases are currently highlighted for the respective variables) in the designated position. Therefore, the size of the file increases.

You can place a copy of the specified variables at a designated location by specifying the range (inclusive) of variables to be copied and the spreadsheet location (insert after which variable) in the Copy Variables dialog box. The copy includes not only the data but also the format, long name, formulas, the numeric-text label assignment. You can easily replace the selection of one variable name with another by double-clicking on the Variable edit fields in the Copy Variables dialog box to display the list of variables in the current spreadsheet from which you can select the desired variable.
