Quick Tab

Element Name Description
Variables Click the Variables button to display the standard variable selection dialog box. You can select continuous, categorical, and binary dependent variables, and continuous and categorical predictors. Continuous variables are those that are measured on some continuous scale (e.g., Height, Weight), categorical variables contain indicators, codes, or text values to denote membership in some group or class (e.g., Gender: Male, Female). A binary variable is a categorical variable that can take on only two values. STATISTICA refers to these two values as good and bad. The code associated with the bad code is the event of interest, e.g., in a credit scoring application, the bad code might denote those customers that have defaulted on a loan.
Response codes This button is available only after a categorical dependent variable has been specified. Click the Response codes button to display the Select codes for the categorical response dialog box, in which you make a selection for the Categorical response from the list of codes for the Dependent variable selected in the current analysis. The list of codes can be displayed by clicking the Zoom button. Note that you must select at least two codes for the selected Dependent variable.
Bad code If a binary dependent variable has been specified, then a bad code (event of interest) must also be specified.
Good code If a binary dependent variable has been specified, then a good code (non-event) must also be specified.
Factor codes Once you have selected one or more categorical predictor variables, the button for the selection of the factor codes will be available. Click the Factor codes button to display the Select factor codes dialog box, in which you select codes for the Categorical predictors. The list of codes can be displayed by clicking the Zoom button. Note that you must select at least two codes for each of the selected Categorical predictors.
