Variance Components and Mixed Model ANOVA/ANCOVA Results

Estimation of Variance Components - Technical Overview

Click the OK button on the Variance Components and Mixed Model ANOVA/ANCOVA Startup Panel to display the Variance Components and Mixed Model ANOVA\ANCOVA Results dialog. This dialog contains three tabs: Quick, Advanced, and Estimation. Use the options on these tabs to review the results of the mixed or random model ANOVA and the analysis of the components of variance for the random effects. Several methods are available for decomposing the sums of squares for the independent variables and estimating the variance components. For details concerning the typical statistics computed in a mixed model ANOVA and their interpretation, refer to the Introductory Overview; see also Computational Details and the Examples. For basic information on ANOVA in linear models, refer to Elementary Statistical Concepts.

Summary
Click the Summary button to display a spreadsheet which displays the variance components for each random effect in the model for each dependent variable. Additional spreadsheets can be displayed depending on the Method that has been selected for estimating variance components on the Advanced tab. For more information on how the option selected in the Method group box will affect the Summary button results, see Summary: Components of Variance Spreadsheets.
Cancel
Click the Cancel button to close the dialog without performing an analysis and return to the Variance Components and Mixed Model ANOVA/ANCOVA Startup Panel.
