X-11/Y2k Monthly Seasonal Adjustment (Census Method II) - Seasonal Factor Curves Tab

Select the Seasonal factor curves tab of the X-11/Y2k Monthly Seasonal Adjustment (Census Method II) dialog box to access options to select the length of the seasonal factor curve moving average for each month.

Element Name Description
Moving averages for seasonal factor curves Use the option buttons in the Moving averages for seasonal factor curves group box to determine the lengths of moving averages used to compute the seasonal factors (seasonal factor curve moving average).
Selected by program By default, the Selected by program option button is selected. If you accept the default setting, STATISTICA selects a 3x3 moving average for the first estimate in each part (see X-11 result tables B 5, C 5, and D 5) and a 3x5 average for the second estimate (see X-11 result tables B 10, C 10, and D 10). A 3x3 moving average is a 3-term moving average applied to a series previously smoothed by a 3-term moving average, which is equivalent to a 5-term weighted moving average; a 3x5 moving average is a 3-term moving average applied to a series previously smoothed by a 5-term moving average, which is equivalent to a 7-term weighted moving average; for a discussion of different types of moving averages see Makridakis and Wheelwright (1983).
User-defined Select the User-defined option button to display the Moving Averages for Seasonal Factor Curves dialog box, in which you select the length of moving average for each month (the same length will be used for both parts).
