How do I split a Statistica data file into smaller files?

Select Subset from the Data menu to display the Create a Subset dialog box, where you can choose the variables and cases to be included in the subfile.

Once your selections have been made, a new spreadsheet with the requested subset is created, and you can continue the analyses using the subset of data.

Saving subsets

When you intend to save the subset, use either Save As or Save from the File menu to save the new spreadsheet.

The original file is not in danger of being overwritten unless you use the same name.

Permanent vs. temporary subsets

Subset creation is designed mostly to create permanent subset files, because in order to temporarily select a subset of data to be analyzed, the Case Selection Conditions are more convenient to use.
