Options - Labeling Tab

Control Charts for Variables vs. Charts for Attributes

Select the Labeling tab of the Options dialog box to access the options described here.

Labeling of samples and X-axis

Use the options under Labeling of samples and X-axis to specify how samples and x-axis values will be labeled.

Use case names or numbers for first case in each sample

If this option button is selected, consecutive samples will be labeled with the case names (or numbers) of the first case that belongs to each respective sample. So, for example, if you recorded a sample identifier in the case names of the data file and each sample consisted of 5 consecutive observations, Statistica would use the case name (sample identifier) for the first observation belonging to each sample to label the respective sample point in the control chart.

Use values (numeric, text, date, etc.) in variable

If this option button is selected, Statistica will use the values given in the specified variable to label the respective sample point. Note that the label for the first observation in the sample will be used. When this option is selected, a Variable Selection dialog box will be displayed, where you can specify which variable to use for labeling.

Use consecutive integer values

When this option button is selected, Statistica will label the sample points with consecutive integer values ( Sample 1, 2, 3, …).

Labeling points for brushing (balloon-help labels stats); include

When brushing a sample point (from the Brushing tab on the respective results dialog), you can choose to display various statistics (for that sample) in a balloon help.

Attribute Charts

You can choose to display the Sample N, Sample mean, Sample sigma, the name of the set to which the point belongs, and Control limits for the point.

Variable Charts

You can choose to display the Sample N, Sample mean, Sample R/S, the name of the set to which the point belongs, Control limits for the point, normal and non-normal Cp and Cpk, and normal Pp and Ppk statistics.

Moving Average Charts

You can choose to display the Sample N, Sample mean, Sample MR/MS, the name of the set to which the point belongs, Control limits for the point, normal Cp and Cpk, and normal Pp and Ppk statistics.

Number of digits and format display for values in charts and dialogs

Scale axis labels

The setting of the options in this box determines (1) how the vertical scales are labeled in X-bar charts, attribute charts, and moving average charts (R and S charts are not affected), and (2) how the horizontal axis is labeled in histograms (of measurements or attributes). You can either select a (maximum) No. of digits for the display of the respective values, or you can use the Variable format for the respective variable that is being plotted.

Values in dialogs and charts and Capability indices

Using these options, you can specify the number of digits to use for capability indices (variable control charts only), and on values which are reported in dialogs.

Labeling of parts

These options are available only for short run charts for multiple parts.

Label upper X axis with parts

When this check box is selected, subsequent short run charts will contain labels on the upper X-axis to identify the part names for the respective samples.

Label sample points with parts

When this check box is selected, subsequent short run charts will have the plotted sample points labeled with the part names.

Truncate labels to … characters

When this check box is selected, subsequent short run charts will have any part labels truncated to the number of characters specified in the edit field next to this option.

Font size for text in charts

Select the Font size for custom text check box and then type the font size in the box or use the microscrolls to adjust font size for custom text (including Causes, Actions, and Comments).
