Goodness of Fit, Classification, Prediction Startup Panel

Ribbon bar. Select the Data Mining tab. in the Deployment group, click Goodness of Fit to display the Goodness of Fit, Classification, Prediction Startup Panel.

Classic menus. On the Data Mining menu, select Goodness of Fit, Classification, Prediction to display the Goodness of Fit, Classification, Prediction Startup Panel.

The Startup Panel contains two tabs: Quick and Advanced.

Element Name Description
Variables Click this button to display a two-variable selection dialog box; specify the variable with the observed values or classifications, and a list of variables containing the predicted values or classifications.
Variable type Specify whether the observed (and predicted) values are continuous in nature (e.g., were computed for a regression-type problem) or categorical in nature (e.g., were computed for a classification problem). Different goodness of fit statistics can be computed for continuous and categorical variables (see the option descriptions in the Advanced tab topic).
Continuous Select this option button to treat the selected variables as continuous variables. Continuous variables are those measured on a continuous scale, such as Height, Weight.
Categorical (classification) Select this option button to treat the selected variables as categorical variables. Categorical variables are those measured on a nominal scale, such as Gender (Male, Female) or Educational Achievement (No High School, High School, College, Post-Graduate).
OK Click the OK button to display the Goodness of Fit Results dialog box to review the results; if no variables have been selected, the program will first prompt you to specify the variable with the observed values or classifications, and a list of variables with predicted values or classifications.
Cancel Click the Cancel button to close the Startup Panel without performing an analysis.
Options See Options Menu for descriptions of the commands on this menu.
Open Data Click the Open Data button to display the Select Data Source dialog box, which contains options to choose the spreadsheet on which to perform the analysis. The Select Data Source dialog box contains a list of the spreadsheets that are currently active.
Select Cases Click the Select Cases button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Selection Conditions dialog box, which contains options to create conditions for which cases will be included (or excluded) in the current analysis. More information is available in the case selection conditions overview, syntax summary, and dialog box description.
W Click the W (Weight) button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Weights dialog box, which contains options to adjust the contribution of individual cases to the outcome of the current analysis by "weighting" those cases in proportion to the values of a selected variable.
Weighted moments Select the Weighted moments check box to specify that each observation contributes the weighting variable's value for that observation. The weight values need not be integers as the procedures can use fractional case weights in most computations. Note that some other procedures of STATISTICA may use case weights as integer case multipliers or frequency values.
