Pareto Chart Dialog - Quick Tab
The Quick tab of the Pareto Chart dialog contains the options described here.
- Variables
- Click the Variables button to display the variable selection dialog, and select the variables for the current analysis. Depending on which Format of input data (see below) has been selected, you can select either one or two variables.
- Cumulative percent
- When this check box is selected, STATISTICA shows the cumulative percentages (for defects) on the right y-axis. Clear this check box to remove the cumulative percentages from the chart.
- Percent labels
- By default, STATISTICA labels the histogram columns with the number of defects. Select this check box to label the histogram columns with the percentage of defects instead.
- Chart summary
- Click this button to display a spreadsheet with the summary of the values shown in each chart.
- Chart orientation
- Use the options in this box to determine the orientation of the chart, i.e., whether to plot the categories for the Pareto charts along the horizontal or x-axis, or the vertical or y-axis.
- Vertical columns
- Select this option button to generate charts that have the labels (text values/coding variable) along the horizontal x-axis.
- Horizontal columns
- Select this option button to generate charts that have the labels (text values/coding variable) on the y-axis rather than on the x-axis.
- Format of input data
- There are three different data formats that can be specified as input.
- Codes
- (Requires tabulation of data by codes) When this option button is selected, STATISTICA expects raw data (codes for categories) that need to be tabulated. The program will automatically create a new category for each new unique data value encountered in the data for the selected variable.
- Aggregated counts
- (One observation with counts per category) When this option button is selected, STATISTICA expects aggregated counts, with each case in the data file representing a new category (so that the resultant Pareto chart will have as many categories as there were valid cases found in the data file for the selected variable).
- Codes and counts
- (One variable with defect type, one variable with counts) When this option button is selected, STATISTICA expects aggregated counts, and codes to identify to which category each count belongs. Thus, two variable lists need to be specified; a single variable containing the code values to identify the categories for the Pareto chart, and another variable list containing the counts (a Pareto chart will be created for each variable in the second list). Note that codes can be duplicated in the data file, in which case the program will compute the sum of all counts belonging to the respective categories.
