Workspace Node: 2D Line Plots (Variables) - Quick Tab

The 2D Line Plots (Variables) workspace node can be accessed from the Feature Finder, ribbon bar, or Node Browser. The Quick tab of the specifications dialog box is displayed by default when you double-click the node.

Element Name Description
Variables Click this button to display a variable selection dialog box, in which you select the y-axis variable(s) to be plotted. If you select more than one variable for Regular or XY Trace line plots, a sequence of graphs (one for each selected variable) are produced. Note that the x-axis is labeled with case names (the first column of data) in the order they are listed in the spreadsheet.
Graph type Select the type of line plot to be plotted. Click a link below for a brief description of that type of graph.

Ignore missing data When missing data are present, a discontinuous line is drawn for that plot. You can elect to ignore missing data by selecting this check box, and a continuous line will then be drawn for that plot.
Ignore out of frame points This check box is selected by default. This option controls whether line segments are drawn to points that fall outside the visible range when the scaling has been adjusted via the Axis - Scaling tab of the Graph Options dialog box so that some points are not in the current graph.
Fit You can fit an equation to the points in the line plots by selecting one of the predefined functions in this group box.

Exponential

Distance Weighted Least Squares

Aggregated data The options in this group box (available when Aggregated line plots have been selected as the Graph type) are useful when there are very many differentiated observations in the sequence of points, in order to uncover or expose the overall pattern of the data sequence. In this case, the means of consecutive sets of N observations are plotted instead of the raw data.
Span Specify the number of consecutive observations from which the mean will be calculated.
Value range bars When you select this check box, whiskers representing the range of the N values from which the means are calculated are placed in the plot at the respective points.
Note: A selection of data smoothing and filtering procedures integrated with line plots are available in the Time Series module.
Display points You can display the line plot with (On) or without (Off) point markers. If you select Auto, Statistica automatically determines the display of point markers depending on the number of observations and the closeness of the points (usually, if N > 100, the points are not displayed).

OK Click this button to accept all the specifications made in the dialog box and to close it. The results are placed in the Reporting Documents workspace node after running (updating) the project.
