Predictive Quality Control Charts for Variables Results

After selecting an analysis from the Predictive Quality Control Charts Startup Panel and selecting the appropriate options in the Defining Variables for . . . dialog box, click the OK button to display the Results dialog box, which contains five tabs: X-bar (or X), R/S, Prediction, Process Capability, and Display. With minor differences, these tabs are very similar regardless of whether an R or S chart is chosen as the variability chart and regardless of whether an X-bar or Moving Average chart is created. With the exception of the Prediction tab, these options are identical to those described for the Variable Control Chart Results dialog box.

Current Variable and Chart

At the top of the dialog box is a table that lists the variables for the current chart analysis. The variable numbers and variable names, as well as summary statistics, are reported. Note that for variable control charts, the Sigma value that is reported is computed according to the chosen type of variability chart, i.e., either from the ranges or the standard deviations. All specifications for the charts (control limits, center lines, etc.) that can be selected on the various dialog tabs of the results dialog pertain to the currently highlighted variable (in the list of variables displayed at the top of the dialog box).

Predictive Quality Control

Use the options on the Prediction tab to select the various analyses discussed in the Introductory Overview (see, in particular, Special Issues in Process Optimization). The results of those analyses are displayed when you click the Summary button of this dialog.
