Target Types

Select the target type from the Target Type drop-down list in the OLE DB Column View. The Target Type is important metadata about the column in the Data Configuration to specify how STATISTICA should interpret/utilize the values in the respective column.

Data
The values in the respective field will be treated as numbers to be used for analysis.

Variable Characteristic. The values will be treated as measurements on a continuous scale to be used for SPC analyses.

Attribute Characteristic. The values will be treated as the types of defects for the objects being inspected.

Aggregate Attribute Characteristic. The values will be treated as the sum of the frequencies of defects or defective objects across the particular defect types. This option is used in the scenario when the frequency of defects is not recorded, but instead the total number of defects (regardless of what kind) is stored in the database.

Defect/Attribute Count
The values will be treated as the frequencies of defects or defective objects to be used for SPC analyses. This type is used in conjunction with an additional column defined as an Attribute characteristic type. The latter defines the defect types and the former defines the observed counts of those defects. A query may contain multiple Attribute characteristics. To specify to which Attribute characteristic this Defect/attribute count corresponds, choose the respective column name from the Associated characteristic drop-down list box.
Label
The values will be treated as supplementary information, to be used for filtering purposes.
Time Stamp
The values will be treated as times. Having a time-stamp column in a query allows you to select (in the Analysis Configuration) the time period from which data are retrieved for this query.
Sample ID
If the database from which you are getting data contains codes indicating the sample to which measurements belong, the field containing those codes is specified as a sample ID.
Piece ID
If the database from which you are getting data contains a code indicating the piece number for each object's measurements within a sample, the field containing those codes is specified as a piece ID.
Cause
The values in this field will be used as cause labels for samples of measurements plotted on control charts for QC. The cause labels will be displayed adjacent to their respective samples on the control chart. For more details, see the help topics associated with entering causes, actions, comments, and including/excluding samples.
Action
The values in this field will be used as action labels for samples of measurements plotted on control charts for QC. The action labels will be displayed adjacent to their respective samples on the control chart. Comment
The values in this field will be used as comment labels for samples of measurements plotted on control charts for QC. The comment labels will be displayed adjacent to their respective samples on the control chart.
Include/Exclude
The values in this field will be used to determine whether a sample of measurements should be included in the computations used for analyses produced by QC. If a record for this field is set to 1, the sample will be excluded from computations. If a record is set to 2, the sample will be excluded from computations and not displayed on the chart. 

Specification. If the database from which you are getting data contains values for process/product specifications (e.g., control limits, warning limits, spec limits), the field containing those values is specified as the Specification. When this target type is selected, you can further define the nature of the data by selecting a specification type.

Process ID.

Set Identifier
If the database from which you are getting data contains codes indicating the set to which measurements belong or a sequential value that can be used in creating sets, then the field is specified as a Set identifier.

The IQC Analysis can also be configured to use aggregated results instead of the individual raw continuous data points (see Variable characteristic, Attribute characteristic, and Aggregate attribute characteristic above). In order to use aggregated results there must be OLE DB Columns with aggregated mean, aggregated sample size, and aggregated variance (range or standard deviation) values must all be specified in the query and identified with the following target types.

Aggregated Variable Characteristic (means)
The values will be treated as the means of the aggregated measurements to be used for SPC analysis.
Aggregated Range
The values will be treated as the ranges of the aggregated measurements to be used for SPC analysis.
Aggregated Standard Deviations
The values will be treated as the standard deviations of the aggregated measurements to be used for SPC analysis.
Aggregated Sample Size
If the query contains an aggregated attribute characteristic, the sample size for each set of observed frequencies can be provided with a field with its column type specified as sample size. For example, the value in this column will be used as the denominator for calculating the values plotted in a P chart. To specify to which aggregate attribute characteristic this sample size corresponds, choose the respective column name from the Associated Characteristic drop-down list box.
