Sampling Plans

Click the OK button in the Sampling Plans dialog box to display the Sampling Plans Results dialog box, which contains two tabs: Fixed sampling plan and Sequential sampling plan. Use the options in this dialog box to review the results of the Sampling plans for means, proportions, & Poisson frequencies method of Process Analysis. Refer to the Introductory Overviews for a description of the distinction between fixed and sequential sampling plans.

Summary box
The Summary box at the top of the dialog box displays a general summary reflecting the selections made for the current analysis.

Copy button. Click the Copy button to copy either the selected text (if text has been selected) in the Summary box or all of the text (if no text has been selected) to the Clipboard. Note that the copied text retains formatting information (such as font, color, etc.).

Contract/Expand button Click the Contract/Expand button to contract or expand the Summary box. When contracted, you can see only one line of the Summary box text and can scroll through the text using a scroll bar. Note that when contracted the text is scrolled so that the first non-blank line is at the top. When expanded (the default setting), the entire Summary box will be displayed.
 
Summary
Click the Summary button to create a spreadsheet that summarizes the results for the fixed sampling plan, including the expected sample size and the upper and/or lower confidence limits for the H0 mean. Note that the results in this spreadsheet will reflect the sample size (N) as shown next to the option Sample size accessed on the Sampling Plans Results dialog box

tab. Thus, after changing the sample size via that option, the results in this spreadsheet will also change.
Cancel
Review your selections for the analysis in the Summary box (see above), and if they are not appropriate, click the Cancel button to return to the Sampling Plans dialog box to make changes.
Options
Click the Options button to display the Options menu.
Select Cases
Click the Select Cases button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Selection Conditions dialog box, which is used to create conditions for which cases will be included (or excluded) in the current analysis. More information is available in the case selection conditions overview and syntax summary.
W
Click the W (Weight) button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Weights dialog box, which is used to adjust the contribution of individual cases to the outcome of the current analysis by "weighting" those cases in proportion to the values of a selected variable.
Sample size estimation for binomial proportions and Poisson frequencies
Note that the sampling plans options in the Process Analysis module will use the normal approximation to the binomial and Poisson distributions, in order to estimate required fixed sample sizes. These approximations are described in, for example, Duncan (1986), and are consistent with the approach used in quality control charting (see also Quality Control for additional details). Note that, usually, in power analysis applications in the biomedical sciences, the explicit formulas (instead of the normal approximations) are used, and those analyses may yield slightly different results.
