Define Distributions
Three ways to display the Define Distributions dialog box, where you can customize the parameter estimates for each fitted distribution as well as specify a custom range from which to simulate data:
- Click the Parameters button in the Design Simulation dialog box
- Click the OK button in the Default Distributions dialog box
- Click the Customize distributions button on the
Fit Distributions Results
dialog box -Save Fit
tab
Distribution
Select the distribution that you want to customize from this drop-down list.
Parameters
Specify whether to use the default parameter estimates or to use custom parameters.
Depending upon the specific distribution, there may be one or all of the following types of parameters available for you to customize: location, scale, and shape.
- A location parameter shifts a distribution along the abscissa.
- A scale parameter shrinks or stretches a distribution.
- A shape parameter is neither a location nor a scale parameter. It determines the shape of the distribution.
Default
Select the Default option button to use the default parameter estimates computed by Statistica for the selected distribution.
User defined
Select the User defined option button to specify custom parameters for the selected distribution.
Location
A location parameter shifts a distribution along the abscissa.
Scale
A scale parameter shrinks or stretches a distribution.
Truncate
Min
Select the Min check box to truncate the selected distribution to the specified minimum value, and enter the value in the adjacent box.
Max
Select the Max check box to truncate the selected distribution to the specified maximum value, and enter the value in the adjacent box.
OK
Click OK to save the changes made in this dialog box, close it, and return to the Fit Distributions Results dialog box.
Cancel
