Life Table & Distribution of Survival Times - Raw Data Tab

Select the Raw data tab of the Life Table & Distribution of Survival Times dialog box to access options to specify how the raw data is used for input into the analysis.

Option Description
Variables (survival times & censoring indicator)Displays a variable selection dialog box for specifying the variable(s) with the survival times and the censoring indicator variable.

You can specify survival times in three following ways:

  1. Select one variable with survival times (for example, number of weeks surviving).
  2. Select two variables containing the start and end dates respectively.
  3. Select six variables containing dates.
Specifically, these variables should contain the month (1 to 12), day (1 to 31), and year when the particular observation began (for example, when the patient was admitted to the hospital), and the month, day, and year when the observation was terminated (due to death or failure or censoring, for example, when a patient was dismissed from the hospital). While processing the data, Survival Analysis computes the number of days that elapsed between dates and perform the analysis on this measure.
Note: If the value of the year is less than 100, Statistica automatically assumes that the year refers to the 20th century; for example, the year 88 is converted to 1988

Code for complete responsesEnter the codes or text labels that were used in the censoring indicator variable to uniquely identify complete (uncensored) observations. To review all codes in the respective variable, double-click on this field (or press the F2 key on your keyboard) to display the Variable dialog box.
Code for censored responses Enter the codes or text labels that were used in the censoring indicator variable to uniquely identify incomplete (censored) observations. To review all codes in the respective variable, double-click on this field (or press the F2 key on your keyboard) to display the Variable dialog box.
Compute table based onDisplays the following options:
  • Number of intervals: Select the Number of intervals and use the accompanying field to enter the number of intervals for the life table.
  • Stepsize (interval width): Select the Stepsize and use the accompanying field to enter the step size that is to be used for tabulating the survival times.
