Workspace Node: Recode Variable - Specifications Tab
The Recode Variable workspace node can be accessed from the Feature Finder, ribbon bar, or Node Browser. Double-click the node to display the specifications dialog box.
Use these options to define the sample variable using the conditional statements using a spreadsheet variable. The node makes it possible for you to select the variable and recode multiple variables from one node.

| Create new recode variable/Select Variable | Clear the Create new recode variable check box, and click the Select Variable button to display a standard variable selection dialog box, where you can select an existing variable to define a recode variable for the recode data sample. |
| Create new recode variable/New Variable | Select the Create new recode variable check-box and enter the new variable name in New Variable Name text-box to define a new recode variable for the recode data sample. |
| Each recode condition includes a recode variable and recode variable values | The minimum number of recode condition rows is 1. When there is only 1 recode condition row, it cannot be deleted. A recode condition is valid only if a recode variable is selected and recode variable values are defined. |
| Define | Click this button to display the Recode Values of Variable dialog box, where conditions, values, missing data codes, and other relevant options can be defined. |

Click the X button to remove an existing recode condition row. |

Click the Plus button to add a new recode condition row. |

| OK | Validation will be applied when you click the OK button, and error messages will be displayed if no sampling variable is selected or no advanced recode conditions are defined. |
