Assigning a Cause, Action, or Comment

Click the Cause button, Action button, or Comment button on the

Brushing

tab of the Results dialog to display the Assigning a Cause, Assigning an Action, or Assigning a Comment dialog, respectively. These dialoges will also be displayed when you request automatic prompting for causes (actions/comments) after certain out-of-control conditions occur.

Cause (Action/Comment)

From this drop-down box, select the cause (action/comment) that you want to assign to the respective sample identified at the top of the dialog.

Specify a new cause (action/comment)

Click the Specify a new cause (action/comment) button to define a new cause (action/comment).

Assign cause (action/comment) to

Select which graph to assign the cause (action/comment) to. For Attribute charts (when sigma is estimated from within-sample standard deviations), the options under Assign action to are not available.
