Ribbon bar. Select the Data Mining tab. In the Trees/Partitioning group, click the Boosted Trees Classifiers and Regression icon
to display the Boosted Trees Startup Panel.
Classic menus. On the Data Mining menu, select Boosted Trees Classifiers and Regression to display the Boosted Trees Startup Panel.
The Startup Panel contains one tab: Quick. Use the options on this tab to choose the Type of analysis to be performed, i.e., whether the analysis involves the prediction of a categorical or class variable (Classification Analysis) or continuous variable (Regression Analysis).

Type of analysis
This group box contains two options: Classification Analysis and Regression Analysis.
Classification Analysis
Select Classification Analysis if the dependent or outcome variable is a categorical or class variable, and the purpose of the analysis is to compute predicted classifications.
Regression Analysis
select Regression Analysis if the dependent or outcome variable is a continuous variable, and the purpose of the analysis is to compute predicted values.
OK
Click the OK button to display the
Boosted Trees Specifications dialog, where you can select the variables and specify other options for this analysis.
Cancel
Click the Cancel button to close the Startup Panel without performing an analysis.
Options
See Options Menu for descriptions of the commands on this menu.
Open Data
Click the Open Data button to display the Select Data Source dialog, which is used to choose the spreadsheet on which to perform the analysis. The Select Data Source dialog contains a list of the spreadsheets that are currently active.
Select Cases
Click the Select Cases button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Selection Conditions dialog, which is used to create conditions for which cases will be included (or excluded) in the current analysis. More information is available in the case selection conditions overview, syntax summary, and dialog description. Note that other options are provided in the subsequent dialogs to specifically identify observations that are to be used as a test sample (see also the
Overview for details).
W
Click the W (Weight) button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Weights dialog, which is used to adjust the contribution of individual cases to the outcome of the current analysis by "weighting" those cases in proportion to the values of a selected variable. In the Statistica Boosted Trees module, weights are interpreted as simple case multipliers.
