Upgrade, Downgrade, and Rollback
Throughout this chapter, the following terminologies will be used:
• Upgrade - This is the process to upgrade to a higher release (for example, from 8.0.x to 8.1.x) by running the upgrade script that comes with the service pack.
• Downgrade - This is the process to revert to a previous release (for example, 8.1.0 to 8.0.1, or 8.0.3 to 8.0.1) by running the downgrade script that comes with the service pack. Refer to
Downgrade/Rollback for more details.
• Rollback - This is the process to remove a hotfix/service pack within a release by running a rollback script, which is included with every service pack/hotfix. Refer to
Downgrade/Rollback for more details.
