Restoring the ActiveMatrix BPM System From a Backup

Use this procedure if you need to restore the ActiveMatrix BPM system from a backup.

Procedure

  1. Shut down:
    1. each TIBCO Host instance on which the ActiveMatrix BPM system is running.
    2. the SystemHost on which ActiveMatrix Administrator is running (if it is hosted separately from ActiveMatrix BPM).
See "Stopping a TIBCO Host Instance" in SOA Administration for more information.
  2. Shut down the EMS server.
See the TIBCO Enterprise Message Service documentation for more information.
  3. Restore all of the following from your backups:
    • TIBCO_HOME - the directory in which ActiveMatrix BPM is installed
    • CONFIG_HOME - the directory that stores ActiveMatrix BPM configuration data
    • SHARED_DIR - the directory that stores shared configuration data used by ActiveMatrix BPM and/or ActiveMatrix Administrator (only present on a distributed BPM system)
    • the ActiveMatrix BPM database
    • the BDS case data store (if hosted separately from the ActiveMatrix BPM database)
    • the ActiveMatrix Administrator database
    • the TIBCO EMS server
Note: See the documentation supplied with your database server for information on how to restore the databases. See the TIBCO Enterprise Message Service documentation for more information on how to restore the EMS server.
  4. Wait until all of the restore operations have completed.
  5. If you are restoring the system from an online backup (taken while the ActiveMatrix enterprise was suspended), use ActiveMatrix Administrator to revert the ActiveMatrix enterprise that is hosting ActiveMatrix BPM to unsuspended (or normal) state. See "Putting an Enterprise in an Unsuspended State" in SOA Administration for more information on how to do this.
if you are restoring the system from an offline backup (taken while the ActiveMatrix enterprise was shut down), you do not need to do this.
  6. In TIBCO Administrator:
    • Make sure the BPM application has a status of Running.
    • Make sure your applications are in the same state that they were when you took the backup.
