Metric Fields and Tracking Fields
A metric has two types of fields: metric fields and tracking fields.
Metric Fields
Metric fields are of two types:
- Group by fields determine how the data is grouped. For more details, see Group by Fields.
- Aggregation fields generate the data using formulas. For more details, see
Aggregation Fields.
- Chart value fields use metric aggregation fields.
- Complex aggregations that are computed using multiple values can be configured explicitly or implicitly. For more details, see Complex Aggregation Types with Auxiliary Fields
For details on how metric fields are used to define the chart category and its value fields, see Charts.
Tracking Fields
The Tracking fields are an optional feature of metrics, available if metric tracking is enabled. You can add the tracking fields to provide additional information related to the metrics, that dashboard users see in the search page ( for more details, see Viewing Metric Data on the Dashboard Search Page).
