Upgrading TIBCO MFT Platform Server for IBM i

When upgrading TIBCO MFT Platform Server for IBM i product, you must know how to upload the files to your IBM i system, shut down all TIBCO MFT Platform Server service programs on the IBM i system, and restore the TIBCO MFT Platform Server product library.

Prerequisites

You must first upload the installation package.

Procedure

  1. After you have uploaded the installation package, type the following command to stop the TIBCO MFT Platform Server Initiator Scheduler program (CFSCHED in the QSYSWRK subsystem):
    CFSTOPINT
  2. Type the following command to stop the TIBCO MFT Platform Server Responder programs (CFRESP, CFRESPS in the QSYSWRK subsystem):
    CFSTOPRSP SSL(*BOTH)
  3. Complete Steps 1 to 3 in Restoring the TIBCO MFT Platform Server Product Library.
    Note: The number of objects restored may vary slightly. There should never be any objects not restored.
  4. Type the following command from the IBM i system command line to upgrade TIBCO MFT Platform Server for IBM i:
    CFUPGRADE FRMLIB(MFTPLATvvv)

    where vvv denotes the previous version number of the TIBCO MFT Platform Server for IBM i product.

    This command runs the MFT Platform Server Upgrade program. This command upgrades the product by copying all configuration and message records from the previous TIBCO MFT Platform Server for IBM i product release to the new TIBCO MFT Platform Server for IBM i product release.
    Note: If the previous TIBCO MFT Platform Server for IBM i product release does not have the Message Log Selection Screen, then the administrator must clear the Message Log file on the previous TIBCO MFT Platform Server for IBM i product release before upgrading to the new release.

    When the MFT Platform Server Upgrade program is completed, you will get a message similar to the following message:

    Upgrade of MFT Platform Server v.v.v completed normally.
  5. Complete Step 4 in Restoring the TIBCO MFT Platform Server Product Library.
