Installation Overview

TIBCO ActiveMatrix^® Policy Director 1.0.1 (or TIBCO ActiveMatrix Policy Director Service Pack-001) allows users to manage and enforce cross-functional requirements, such as security, monitoring, and compliance, independent of their implementation and deployment.

Because TIBCO ActiveMatrix Policy Director allows you to set up and implement these governance components in different ways, the installer supports several different options. The installer option you select determines the available configuration options that TIBCO Configuration Tool offers.

Option	Installer Description	Configuration Tool Options
BusinessWorks Governance	Installs the governance agent for TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks , which allows users to set up the rules using TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks activities. You must install TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks before you can install this component. You must install the governance agent for TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks into the same TIBCO_HOME installation environment in which TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks is installed.	Options for configuring EMS (Enterprise Messaging Service) or JMS services. You can configure these services to use SSL if you want.
Proxy Host	Configures a proxy host for use with your governance solution. TIBCO ActiveMatrix Policy Director allows you to create proxies for services that are managed in external containers such as WebSphere Application Server and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF).	You can configure a proxy host for an existing runtime host (TIBCO Host) or create a new runtime host for the proxy host. If you create a new runtime host, you are prompted for host configuration parameters. In both cases, you are prompted for proxy node configuration parameters.

BusinessWorks Governance

Installs the governance agent for TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks , which allows users to set up the rules using TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks activities. You must install TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks before you can install this component. You must install the governance agent for TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks into the same TIBCO_HOME installation environment in which TIBCO ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks is installed.

Options for configuring EMS (Enterprise Messaging Service) or JMS services. You can configure these services to use SSL if you want.

Proxy Host

Adding a TIBCO ActiveMatrix product to your environment consists of several high-level tasks.

Make sure the prerequisites for installation are met. See Installation Requirements.
Make sure the prerequisites for configuration are met. See TIBCO Configuration Tool Requirements.
Run the installer. See Installation.
Run TIBCO Configuration Tool. See Running TIBCO Configuration Tool.

How you prepare for installation and for configuration depends on the installation profile you select.

Note: Before you run the installer, you must only meet the installation requirements. Before you run TIBCO Configuration Tool, you have to meet additional requirements.
