FTP Operator Sample

About This Sample

This operator sample illustrates the use of the TIBCO StreamBase® operator for FTP by sending an FTP client GET command to an FTP server to retrieve a file.

Running FTPGet.sbapp in StreamBase Studio

  1. In the Project Explorer, open the sample you just loaded.

  2. Open the src/main/eventflow folder.

  3. Open the package folder (most samples contain a single package folder. Open the top-level package folder if your sample contains more than one folder).

  4. Open the named application file and click the Run button. This opens the SB Test/Debug perspective and starts the application.

If you see red marks, wait a moment for the project in Studio to load its features.

If red marks do not resolve themselves in a moment, select the project and right-click MavenUpdate Project from the context menu.

  5. Press F9 or click the Stop Running Application button.

  6. Observe that there is now a new file in your nodes directory. This was the file retrieved via the FTP GET command.

Look at the manual output view for the OutputStream and view the inputTuple field to determine the locally written file.

  7. Restart the application.

In the cmd field, enter the value FREE_FORM and click Send Data.

Observe in the Output Streams view that the object field contains two numbers. The first is the server response code and the second is the size of the file that you just retrieved, in bytes.

  8. Experiment with different values for cmd, local, remote and the operator properties.

If you want more functionality, be sure to change the Server hostname, Username and Password operator properties to a server to which you have write access.
