Spotfire® Service for R Installation and Administration

Spotfire® Service for R

Spotfire® Service for R version 1.17.4 extends access to the open-source R (R) engine from Spotfire® Analyst (a Spotfire® product that provides advanced analytics capability) to Spotfire web client users (Spotfire products used for analyzing and consuming visual analyses).

Spotfire Service for R is provided to Spotfire® Server administrators as a set of Spotfire SPK packages, in one SDN distribution file. For information about the versions of R that Spotfire Service for R support running on, see System Requirements.

Spotfire® Server administrators must install a supported version of R on a Spotfire Server node, and then install and configure the Spotfire Service for R on the same node available to Spotfire® Server. This installation provides robust predictive and computational detail to users accessing Spotfire visualizations through the Spotfire web clients.

  • Spotfire Analyst users that have the appropriate feature licenses can develop predictive analytics, data functions, or R expressions.
  • Spotfire Analyst users can run R data functions from the Spotfire Analyst application that is connected to a Spotfire Server version 12.5.0 or later.
  • Spotfire Analyst users cannot run data functions locally in Spotfire Service for R version 1.17.4.

The help for Spotfire Service for R is for Spotfire Server administrators who need to install and configure the Spotfire Service for R, to install R packages for visualizations that use them, and to review logs and troubleshoot the Spotfire Service for R.

For more information about R, see its web help.
