Exporting a visualization and include non-visible content

You can export a visualization to a PDF document. Sometimes the content in a visualization is extensive, and a scroll bar is added to make it accessible. When you export such a visualization, it is possible to export the entire content, including the content that is currently non-visible.

About this task

To export only what is visible in the visualization, see Exporting a visualization.

Visualizations whose entire content might not be visible are visualizations that are trellised by page and tabular visualizations (table, cross table, summary table, and graphical table).
Note: When exporting a KPI chart, you can only export what is currently visible in the analysis.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the visualization you want to export, and select Export > Visualization to PDF to open the Export to PDF dialog.

Alternatively, you can select File > Export > Visualization to PDF on the menu bar to export the active visualization.

  2. Under What to export, make sure Active visualization is selected.
  3. To Show visualization title, Show legend, or Show axis selectors, make sure the corresponding check boxes are selected.
  4. For trellised visualizations, select Export all trellis pages. For tabular visualizations, select Export entire table.
For tabular visualizations, additional options will be available when you select Export entire table.
    • Columns first, then rows - Tabular visualizations that fill up more than one PDF page are by default exported so that rows are exported first, and then the columns:
      Export rows first
Select Columns first, then rows to instead export the columns first, and then the rows:
      Export columns first
    • Repeat column headers – For tabular visualizations, select this check box to display column headers on each PDF page on which the visualization continues.
    • Repeat row headers – For cross tables, select this check box to display row headers on each PDF page on which the visualization continues.
    • Keep hierarchy levels together – Select this check box to, as far as possible, display items on the lowest level in a hierarchy on the same PDF page.
    • Repeat frozen columns – If frozen columns are used in a table visualization, select this check box to display these columns on every PDF page on which the table visualization continues.
  5. Optionally, use the general settings in the dialog to modify the PDF output further.
  6. Click Export.

Results

Depending on which client you are using, and your web browser settings, the created PDF document is either downloaded to your computer right away, or you are prompted to open or save it.
