Running an external action

If actions involving external systems have been added to your analysis using Spotfire Analyst, you can run those actions from the web client as well.

About this task

To run an action, it must be associated with a trigger, which can be either a floating button in the upper right visualization corner, a right-click menu option, or a button in the visualization title bar.

Procedure

Locate the visualization containing the trigger of the action you want to run.
Use the associated trigger to initiate the action.
If the action has not been trusted before, you must review it in the Review external action dialog. If you have confidence in the signer of the action, click Trust.

Tip: You can select the check box Always trust actions signed by to trust the signer of this action. All future external actions or new versions of an action from that signer will automatically be trusted.

If the action configuration contains prompted user inputs, a dialog with one or more input fields is opened. If a question mark icon is shown above any of the input fields, a description is available in the tooltip.
If a prompt is shown, enter values in the fields, and click Next.

The Run external action dialog opens. If the action is configured to send data, you will see a sample of the data that will be sent externally.
Review any data that will be sent with the action, and click Approve.
If you are not already logged in to TIBCO Cloud™, you will be asked to log in. As soon as you are logged in, Spotfire runs the action.
