File compatibility
It is possible to open files from different Spotfire versions using your current version.
Backward compatibility makes it possible to open analyses saved in older Spotfire versions.
Forward compatibility makes it possible to open analyses that are created in a future Spotfire version.
Technically, you can often open analysis files that were saved and created in Spotfire versions as old as 5.5, but file compatibility is not guaranteed. Officially, it is supported to open .dxp files that were created and saved in older versions of Spotfire where you can still open support cases.
Note: Features introduced in a newer version of Spotfire will not be
available when the analysis is opened in the older version. Also note that, if
you, in the older version of Spotfire, save an analysis that was created in a
newer version, any features introduced in the newer version and used in the
analysis, will be lost.
