Scheduled updates

In on-premises installations, a scheduled update can be used to reduce the time it takes to open a certain analysis file. This is done by pre-loading the analysis file on the Spotfire server before anyone attempts to open it.

Scheduled updates are most efficient if you have analysis files with linked data (from a data connection or any other linkable data source), that are updated regularly with large amounts of new data. Often, such updates occur during the night, and the following morning you can open the corresponding analysis file to view the latest data. If that data has already been pre-loaded, the analysis will open much faster.

The same goes for a large analysis with lots of data, that you might open several times during the day to quickly check for figures or similar. Instead of having to load this into memory every time the analysis is opened, an administrator can make sure this analysis is already pre-loaded from the data source, ensuring a rapid response for all users of the analysis.

See Scheduled updates to analyses in the Spotfire Server and Environment - Installation and Administration Manual for more information about how to use scheduled updates.
