Using list box filters

The list box filter is used to select a few values from a very long list of values present in the data column.

About this task

Select the values you want to keep by clicking on them in the list. Only rows with these values remain in the visualization.
  • To select a consecutive group of values, click the first value, press Shift, and then click the last value.
  • To select non-consecutive values, press Ctrl, and then click each separate value.
The list box filter also includes the (All) option. Selecting (All) means that no values are filtered out.
Tip: You can decide whether the (All) option should be visible. Right-click the filter, and use the Include (All) as option setting.

It is possible to search for values to narrow down the list before making a selection. Type a text string in the field above the list. In the web client, you must press Enter for the search to be performed. Various search rules are described in Using text filters.

Using check boxes in the list box filter

In the installed client, an alternative way to present the list box filter is to show the values in the filter with check boxes as seen below. Right-click on the filter and select Show Check Boxes to switch to this mode.

Right-click and select Hide Check Boxes to return to the original filter.

Tip: Clearing and selecting the (All) check box clears and selects, respectively, every check box in the list.

Showing number of filtered values

The darker gray indicator on the right hand side of the filter shows where your selected values are located in the whole list. If you hover over the indicator, a tooltip is shown, indicating how many values have been chosen in the list.
