This document is the API specification for the TIBCO Silver Fabric SDK. The SDK has APIs used to create custom Enablers, Component Types, Asset Managers and many other artifacts for use with Silver Fabric.

Getting Started with Broker Components

Asset Managers: Asset Manager implementations are based on the AssetManager class, or a subclass thereof. AbstractLoadBalancer provides a partial Asset Manager implementation such that only Load Balancer relevant methods need to be implemented.

External Statistic Providers: Custom external statistics providers should derive from the AbstractExternalStatisticsProvider class.

Allocation Rule Conditions: Custom allocation rule conditions should derive from the AbstractCustomRuleCondition class.

Variable Providers: Variable Provider implementations should derive from the AbstractVariableProvider class.

Getting Started with Enabler Development

Enablers: Most Silver Fabric Enabler implementations are based on the ExecContainer class, or a subclass thereof. ExecContainer provides a basic Enabler implementation that runs a user-specified sub-process, defined as a LifecycleCommand, and manages its lifecycle.

Component Types: Custom Component types can be created by subclassing the DefaultDomain class and overriding/customizing any or all of the four lifecycle methods defined there.

Start and Running Conditions: Enablers and Components can both have StartConditions and RunningConditions, which allow implementors to provide feedback to the Silver Fabric Engine as to the state of the Enabler and Component.

Features and FeatureInfos: Features are defined in the XML for an Enabler and FeatureInfo implementations are used to store Component-specific information about the feature, to be used by the Enabler implementation.

Statistics Providers: Custom statistics providers should derive from the AbstractStatisticsProvider class. The bundled MBeanStatisticsProvider and MXBeanStatisticsProvidermay be used for convenience when retrieving statistics from a JMX-enabled Enabler.
