Spotfire® Server and Environment - Installation and Administration

Backup and restore

To enable recovery after a crash or disaster in your Spotfire environment, you must create backup versions of the information stored in the system. Most of this information is stored in the Spotfire database, but some of it is stored on the Spotfire Server.

This section does not describe how to perform backups; rather, it details only what components must be backed up. To perform backup tasks, you must have your own backup software for files and computers, and you must use the backup tools provided with the database. Refer to the database documentation for instructions on performing backups.

You must back up each server in the cluster.

Important: You can restore a backup copy only to a computer running the same operating system as the backed-up system, because the binaries include a bundled Java runtime for a specific architecture.

The following sections describe the components of the Spotfire environment that must be backed up.
