Spotfire® Server and Environment - Installation and Administration

Changing service instance logging levels

For Automation Services and Web Player service instances, you can switch to a more complete logging level from within the Monitoring & Diagnostics area of the Spotfire Server web administration interface .

Before you begin

You are running services of version 12.3 or later. For older service instances, see the version of the manual for the instance that you are using, for example, 12.0.0.

You must have administrative credentials for Spotfire Server.

About this task

Note: It is a good practice to back up the existing logs and clear the logs folder before capturing the debug logs.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Spotfire Server web administration pages and click Monitoring & Diagnostics.
  2. On the Overview page, locate the service instance whose logging level you want to change.
Tip: You can also change the log configuration level from the Instances page, under Diagnostics.
  3. Under Log configuration, click on the current log configuration level for the service instance and, in the Set log configuration dialog, select a different logging level.
Set the log configuration level to either Monitoring or Full Monitoring to start logging to the logs needed for the monitoring analysis on debug level. Full Monitoring is extremely verbose, so do not use this option unless asked to do so by Spotfire Support. After collecting the necessary information from this level, reset logging by changing the logging configuration back to what is normally used when not troubleshooting, that is, Standard or Info.
  4. Click Set when you are done.

Results

The change is shown in the Log configuration column.
