Initial configuration
It is recommended that Spotfire administrators configure a successful basic installation of Spotfire Server before configuring more advanced implementations.
Tip: Multiple
configurations can be stored in the
Spotfire
database, but only one can be active.
- Configuration using the configuration tool
The Spotfire Server configuration tool is a Java application included in the Spotfire Server installation package, and its user interface provides a guided path for a basic installation, including creation of the database schemas. - Configuration using the command line
Executing commands on the command line provides greater flexibility and access to options that are not available in the configuration tool. Most administrators use the configuration tool. - Scripting a configuration using batch CLI commands
For more experienced administrators, the Spotfire Server includes two prepared configuration script files that you can use to set up simple configurations by specifying a number of CLI commands. You can also create and run your own script files. - Manual configuration
Certain configuration properties in the Spotfire system are rarely used and cannot be set using commands. To use these properties you manually edit the server configuration. You may also want to work directly in the configuration to configure features that require complex commands, such as enabling several authentication options. - User authentication
Spotfire supports a variety of user authentication protocols for verifying the identities of users logging in to the program. - Login behavior configuration
You can configure various aspects of the Spotfire login dialog.
