Sample size/Minimum n per sample
Under Sampling, enter the Sample size and the Minimum n per sample (if applicable).
For quality control purposes, most often it is not feasible to inspect or measure all objects. Instead, statistical reasoning allows for the inspection or measurement of a sample of objects from the production process, from which we can make inferences about the production process in general. Use the Minimum n per sample option to specify the number of measurements taken on a sample's objects before the relevant statistic (e.g., the average of the measurements for the objects from the same sample) is plotted on the QC chart.
The Minimum n per sample is useful in on-line quality control situations in which you want to see a sample statistic for a sample's measurements before that sample is complete. Note. The sample size and minimum n will sometimes be dictated by the selection of chart type from the previous Characteristic Properties view. For example, the selection of an X and MR chart also implies a sample size of 1 (with minimum n having no relevance).
Moving average span
Specify the number of consecutive samples to average on the MA Chart, if applicable.
Use constant sample size
Select this check box to use a constant sample size when performing analyses with this Characteristic.
Cause labels/Action labels
Statistica's Quality Control Charts (QCC) module allows the user, monitoring various aspects of the production process, to enter causes and actions when a user-defined event occurs (e.g., an out-of-control sample or a runs rule violation).
If you want to be able to assign causes and actions to samples for this characteristic, a cause label and an action label should already have been set up to define the possible causes and actions using the Label dialog. If that is not the case, launch the Label dialog from the Tree View to create a cause label and an action label for this Characteristic. After doing so, select the Cause labels check box and/or the Action labels check box, and select from the list of available cause and action labels in their respective drop-down list boxes.
