Multidimensional Scaling Startup Panel

Multidimensional Scaling is the only method of statistical analysis in Statistica that cannot accept raw data files as the main input file. Instead, it requires as input a matrix spreadsheet containing correlations, similarities, or dissimilarities (distances). Statistica matrix files can be created directly, or they can be produced by other methods of analysis in Statistica.

For example, a wide variety of distance matrices can be computed from raw data and saved through Cluster Analysis.

You can open the Multidimensional Scaling dialog box by using the following ways:
  • Ribbon bar: Click the Statistics tab. In the Advanced/Multivariate group, click Mult/Exploratory, and select Multidimensional Scaling to display the Multidimensional Scaling Startup panel.

  • Classic menus: From the Statistics - Multivariate Exploratory Techniques menu, select Multidimensional Scaling to display the Multidimensional Scaling Startup panel.

The Multidimensional Scaling Startup panel contains two tabs: Quick and Options.

Option Description
OK Performs the multidimensional scaling analysis and displays the Parameter Estimation dialog box.
Cancel Closes the Startup Panel without performing an analysis.
Options See Options Menu for descriptions of the commands on this menu.
Open Data Displays the Select Data Source dialog box, which is used to choose the spreadsheet on which the analysis is performed. The Select Data Source dialog box contains a list of the spreadsheets that are currently active.
