Generalized Linear/Nonlinear Models Startup Panel
Ribbon bar. Select the Statistics tab. In the Advanced/Multivariate group, click Advanced Models and from the menu, select Generalized Linear/Nonlinear to display the Generalized Linear/Nonlinear Models Startup Panel.
Classic menus. On the Statistics - Advanced Linear/Nonlinear Models submenu, select Generalized Linear/Nonlinear Models to display the Generalized Linear/Nonlinear Models Startup Panel.
The Startup Panel contains two tabs: Quick and Advanced. Use the options on the Quick tab to specify the Generalized linear model you want to use. Use the options on the Advanced tab to select the Type of analysis, Specification method, the appropriate Distribution function (for the response variable), and the Link function. To perform a generalized linear/nonlinear model analysis, a data file must be selected at this point.

OK | Click the OK button to display the appropriate analysis specification dialog box, depending on the Specification method selected on the Advanced tab. |
Cancel | Click the Cancel button to close the Startup Panel without performing an analysis. |
Options | See Options Menu for descriptions of the commands on this menu. |
Open Data | Click the Open Data button to display the Select Data Source dialog box, which is used to choose the spreadsheet on which to perform the analysis. The Select Data Source dialog box contains a list of the spreadsheets that are currently active. |
Select Cases | Click the Select Cases button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Selection Conditions dialog box, which contains options to create conditions for which cases will be included (or excluded) in the current analysis. More information is available in the case selection conditions overview, syntax summary, and dialog box description. |
W | Click the W (Weight) button to display the Analysis/Graph Case Weights dialog box, which contains options to adjust the contribution of individual cases to the outcome of the current analysis by "weighting" those cases in proportion to the values of a selected variable. Each observation contributes the weighting variable's value for that observation. The weight values need not be integers. This module can use fractional case weights in most computations. Moment statistics (e.g., mean, variance) are based on the number of (unweighted) observations (N-1). The sums of squares and cross products will always be based on the weighted values of the respective observations. Dispersion Param | Enter the dispersion parameter in the Param field. This option is available only when Negative binomial log model is selected as the distribution. The value of the dispersion parameter is restricted to be equal to or greater than zero. An entered value of zero means the dispersion parameter is estimated via maximum likelihood. Otherwise, the entered constant value is used for the dispersion parameter. This enables you to model the data according to a Poisson-Gamma mixture distribution. |
Index Param | Enter the index parameter in the Param field. This option is available only when Tweedie is selected as the distribution. It defines the variance function as V(µ) = µIndex Param. This parameter is restricted such that 1 < Index Param. < 2. This defines a mixed distribution or a Poisson-Gamma distribution with support greater than 0 and a mass at 0. |
Power parameter | Enter the power parameter in the Param. field. This option is available only when Power is selected as the Link function on the
Advanced tab. The power link function is defined as f(z) = za, for a given a.
