Specify Start Values

Click the Start values button on the Model Estimation dialog box - Advanced tab to display the Specify start values dialog box. Use these options to enter the individual start values for each parameter, or one common value for all parameters.

The start values are used in the first iteration of each estimation method to determine the initial value of the loss function (see also, Nonlinear Estimation Procedures). Use this dialog box to change the start values (by default, 0.1).

Element Name Description
Individual Start Values These boxes list the parameters currently in the model. You can change the start values for each of these parameters individually in these boxes by entering a new value or using the microscrolls to adjust the value.
OK Click the OK button to accept the values entered in the Specify start values dialog box.
Cancel Click the Cancel button to return to the Model Estimation dialog box. Any values entered in the Specify start values dialog box will be ignored.
