Spreadsheet Formatting Options
Statistica Spreadsheets support several formatting options, including cell-specific and in-cell formatting, formats, spreadsheet layouts, custom formats, and selection conditions.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Cell-specific formatting | You can format individual or specific cells to distinguish them from the rest of the cells in the spreadsheet. You can assign a format to just one cell or a range of cells. |
In-cell formatting | You can format a portion of the contents in a selected cell. For example, if a cell contains the text "Lot 1245," you can format the number "1245" to be in bold font, while leaving the word "Lot" in the default font style. |
Formats | You can apply a quick and consistent format. Using the Format Manager, you can create and edit formats, and apply formats to portions of your spreadsheet data. |
Spreadsheet layouts | Use Spreadsheet layouts in Statistica spreadsheets to assign formats to specific components associated with the entire spreadsheet. Using the Spreadsheet Layout Manager, you can create sets of formats to be applied to various components of a spreadsheet. |
Selection conditions | Additionally, the use of selection conditions (accessible from the System tab of the Spreadsheet Layouts dialog box), enables you to create formats that can be applied to cells if your predefined conditions are met in those cells. |
Variable width and case height | You can change the width of variables (columns) and the height of cases (rows) to enhance the appearance of the spreadsheet. |

Custom number formats | Statistica spreadsheets provide a standard list of custom number formats from which you can choose, or you can create your own custom format. See also: Custom Number Formats. |
Variable names | You can change the format of variable names (such as bold, underline, italics, font color and font size) to increase their visibility in the spreadsheets. For a data set with several hundred variables, you could format variables of a particular type (such as dependent variables) in such a way as to make them easily recognizable in the spreadsheet. Statistica also displays formats applied to variable names (such as bold, underline, italics, and font color; as specified in the spreadsheet) in the variable selection dialog.
For example, a variable formatted as Measure1 in the spreadsheet is displayed as Measure1 in the variable selection dialog. |
Note: Font size is not shown in the variable selection dialog. The variable name is automatically wrapped to fit the variable (column) width.
